Today I saw the movie Article VI faith and Politics in America. This movie explores the history of the sixth article of the Constitution; it attempts to discover how this law is being accepted, and how well it is understood among the American people. The film focuses on the part that says: “no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.” This is a must see movie, and yes it does mention Mitt Romney, but the movie does not focus on him, it isn’t about him, even though I am sure that he must have been the inspiration for it. I enjoyed the strong opinions of everyone that participated in the movie. I found it to be a documentary that in the end finds common ground, and emphasizes the American in us all. It is unlike every Michael Moore movie that I have seen. It is not a feel bad but rather a feel good movie. It does a fine job tackling a tough and touchy subject.

Article VI
All Debts contracted and Engagements entered into, before the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be as valid against the United States under this Constitution, as under the Confederation. This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any state to the Contrary notwithstanding. The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States.

Thanks so much vegor. I will
Article 6 has almost nothing to do with religion other than that little phrase at the end, and it is not enforced. Were it, the presidential inauguration would not involve a Bible.
